Sounds like a Godzilla movie, but no, it's much better. It's that rare instance when the digital commons intersects with sustainability. The GreenXchange is an open innovation platform enabling corporations to share their green intellectual property. The video explaining it (below) is exceptionally well done, but the rigorous art direction doesn't exactly evoke the digital commons. It has the feel of an expensive ad, not to mention the elaborate Rube Goldberg set up is kind of on the wasteful side, no? OK, mixed messages aside, this is a cool project. Oh, I should mention that the equivalent platform for "noncorporate persons" is Creative Citizen.
The Environmental Defense Fund's Innovation Exchange is hosting a conference call about the GreenXchange on February 8th. If you'd like to join, here's the dial-in: +1 (213) 289-0500, Code: 267-6815.
