You’re invited to Shareable’s February 24th gathering in San Francisco…and online here.

In our November event, we discussed how the social web can disempower if not used wisely. This month, we’ll discuss how to use it to improve the quality of your life, connect with others, use resources more effectively, and share real stuff in your offline life. Three panelists will help seed the discussion. They’ve explored the interplay between the real and virtual deeply in both practice and thought, and have a passionate commitment to empowering others with the knowledge they’ve gained:

  • Allison Arieff is former editor in chief of Dwell Magazine, a NYTimes design blogger, and a writer for GOOD.  Allison writes, lectures and consults on media, design, and sustainability, most recently for Urban Re:Vision and IDEO. Here’s a recent piece that explores how the virtual can help us better share the real built environment.
  • Stephanie Smith is a designer and social entrepreneur. Her most recent company WeCommune.com (now in private beta) is an application that facilitates on the ground resource-sharing. WeCommune began as a social design project called Wanna Start a Commune? In 2008 – 2009 WSAC triggered ‘Cul-de-sac Communes‘ in Southern California and beyond. Smith is also founder of the green design lab Ecoshack. She blogs about new online/offline communities and why they matter at ‘Learning from FarmVille‘.
  • Bill Ayers is a writer, Internet entrepreneur, and recognized Meetup organizing expert. He is founder and organizer of the San Francisco Webeneur Meetup Group and was Meetup organizer of the week March last year.

And fittingly, this will be a hybrid online / offline event. We’ll be livestreaming the presentation and discussion part of the event from the coworking innovation loft, PariSoma.com. Go here at 8pm PST to see the livestream and ask questions from online. Expect hiccups, failures, and fun. It’ll be a great learning experience in form and content. Please join us.
