Shareable’s August Best-Of

At Shareable, we recognize that August is for some of you the month when you look least at your computers. It's the month when you let that RSS reader pile up into the thousands of unread blogs because it's just so damn sunny outside. We understand, and we're happy for you, really. We're all about less work, more play, so far be it from me to hold it against our readers when they take a few weeks away from the glowing rectangles. The only problem (besides sunburn) is that we published some awesome content this off-month, and I'd hate for you to miss all of it in the "mark all as read" purge. So, in that spirit, here are some of my favorite pieces from August:

  • At the beginning on the month in the wake of the BNB renter-from-hell scandal, publisher Neal Gorenflo wrote a wake up call to sharing entrepreneurs, and sharing lawyer Janelle Orsi had a response as well.

  • Shareable's Paul Davis interviewed creator of Spacehack.org and citizen-scientist extraordinaire Ariel Waldman.

  • The biggest political question of the summer is how the US is going to create more jobs. At Shareable, Jessica Reeder says by revitalizing local manufacturing. Mira Luna has a slightly different take, looking at building economies from the ground up.

  • We excerpted the new DIY education ebook by Generation Debt author Anya Kamentz. Stay tuned for an interview I did with Anya, coming soon.

  • When is too old to live with roommates? In a personal essay, Leilani Clark tells the story of starting over at 37.

  • Corbyn Hightower shares the two-part story of her family bike odyssey to a wedding, read part one and part two.

Enjoy! And hopefully you've all enjoyed the turn to September and the coming Fall.
