Dear Shareable readers,

Since we launched Shareable in 2009, we've been incredibly inspired by the ever-growing, worldwide interest in the sharing movement. With a small team and the support of readers like you, we've accomplished a great deal in reporting on new and resurgent models of sharing and in shaping the dialogue about the movement for the good of people and the planet.

Here are three ways in which we helped power the sharing movement this year — with your donation, we can do even more in 2016.

Education: We served a record one million readers — an increase of nearly 20 percent over last year — with stories about how we can share our way to more equitable, resilient and enjoyable world. Shareable’s editorial strategy is to encourage replication of proven or promising sharing solutions by documenting and spreading them globally. Each story is a message of hope and instructions about how to succeed together.

Connection: Through our Sharing Cities Network, we supported dozens of events including Sharing School, OuiShare Fest, The City as a Commons conference, SharItaly, Platform Cooperativism and many more that promote a public-interest version of the sharing economy, and not just the Silicon Valley version. Over the last two years, we’ve helped bring over 20,000 people together face-to-face under the banner of sharing.

Policy: We advised the European Union and municipal governments including Seoul, South Korea, about how to create policies and programs that bring the benefits of sharing to the most people possible. To date, more than 30,000 people have downloaded our sharing policy guide including activists, politicians, and government officials from the U.S., Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Korea, and many more countries.

With your help, we can take things to the next level in 2016. We intend to publish a book and launch a global campaign for Sharing Cities. We’re lining up an all-star team of fellows and partner organizations to dramatically increase adoption of local, democratic sharing policies and innovations. But in order to succeed, we need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Shareable today.

With gratitude,
