Every day we are bombarded with stories of scarcity. We are constantly being told that we’re running out of everything from food to freedom. But is that true? Maybe. But maybe what’s more true is that our current economy creates value based on the perception of scarcity. The less accessible products and services are, the more valuable and profitable they become. By forcing things to be scarce in order to be valuable, the current economy ultimately undermines our freedom, social equity, and environmental sustainability.

But there is an alternative.

Wolfgang Hoeschele, author of The Economics of Abundance, believes that it’s possible to make place for abundance – by intentionally creating spaces where people can work together to create “abundance districts”. Abundance districts create spaces where community can gather to support and promote the creation of a local economy of abundance in which all people, regardless of their background, now and in the future, are enabled to thrive and live abundantly, while consuming less natural resources and leading more sustainable lives.

How can we create an economy of Abundance? I would like to invite you to a gathering to discuss the possibility of establishing an abundance district in the Bay Area.
