Most people could easily prattle off a number of benefits that come from biking instead of driving. There's the financial savings, first of all. Then come the boosts to personal, urban, and planetary health. It really doesn't take much thought at all to get the point.
Still, when it's all laid out in an infographic -- like this one here -- the myriad positive gains from biking come into even sharper focus. For instance, biking a 10-mile, roundtrip commute would not only save someone $10 a day, but it would also save their share of the annual 3.9 billion gallons of gas used in traffic jams and it would lower their risk of stroke and heart disease by 50 percent.
