My wife stumbled across the sock exchange in a Bernal Heights laundromat.  Free-market utopians have long argued that the stock market, where everything has a price and prices are set by collective action, should serve as a model for our entire society. Might the sock exchange, with its share-alike, leave-one-take-one ethic, be a more desirable model?
