Based in Madison, Wisconsin, Rearick is founder and former Co-Director of the Dane County TimeBank(DCTB) — a 2800+-member timebank devoted to building a just and inclusive economy — and Project Coordinator ofMutual Aid Networks. In addition to her work in timebanking and promoting grassroots-up economic and community regeneration, Rearick is co-owner of Mother Fool's Coffeehouse. Rearick worked for Greenpeace for six years of young adulthood, helped launch Madison Hours local currency in 1995 and served for several years on the steering committee of independent local political party Progressive Dane. Rearick also works as a musician.

After three years at the New Economics Foundation (NEF) in London he is currently pursuing a PhD with, and based at, the University of Cumbria’s Institute for Leadership and Sustainability (www.IFLAS.info) in the heart of the English Lake District. Leander holds a master’s degree in Neurobiology (Diplom Biologe) and a Master of Arts (Magister Artium) in Philosophy and Business from the University of Freiburg in Germany, his country of origin. He has worked as a freelance consultant in many European countries and the Americas, focusing on participatory processes, social entrepreneurship and primarily complementary currencies. Having lived and worked in all five corners of the globe before moving to England, Leander is roaming about to meet currency aficionados around the world and keenly exploring pockets of wild outdoors across the British Isles.
