Technologist turned entrepreneur. Founder and CEO of Jointli.com, an online service that helps people set up and manage co-ownership of underutilized items. Paul's adventures in sharing started in 2007, when he happened across an opportunity to share a 1980 C&C 34 named "Skylark" with two other partners. As an avid sailor he had always wanted to own his own boat, but had assumed that it would have to wait until he could bear the financial burden of sole ownership. As the saying goes... "A boat is just a hole in the water that you throw money into." Shared ownership seemed like the perfect solution, and the simple logic of not paying for 100% of an asset that you use 20% of the time was inescapable. Fast forward to 2010, and after years of enjoying the benefits of shared ownership, Paul started down a path that would lead him to leave behind a perfectly good career for a high-risk proposition. The question that started it all was, "Why aren't more people doing this?" The two answers that Paul heard most were that it's hard to find like-minded partners to share with, and it's hard to manage a shared ownership arrangement on your own. Convinced that both of these problems could be solved with the right application of technology, Paul started working on a "side project" that grew over the span of 10 months into Jointli.com and a new career as an entrepreneur. When he's not debugging regular expressions or evangelizing the benefits of shared ownership he can be found on Long Island Sound beating the wind into submission on Skylark.
