Tufts University Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning and Shareable co-present this ongoing free lecture series hosted by Professor Julian Agyeman (chair of Shareable’s board).
While most urban forestry goals primarily focus on tree planting and green space, there is an alternative approach which focuses on using urban wood as part of the urban forest process. This includes making firewood and dimensional lumber from trees that are in decline.
James Williams is a forester with The Center For Heirs Property Preservation. And partner with Atlanta Forest Products. Williams grew up working on logging crews in East Texas with his father and grandfather. After working in corporate forestry for years and seeing how wasteful it was, he’s spent the last few years focused on community and urban forestry.
