| Over the past six months, the Rural Power Coalition has been thinking a lot about the increasingly relevant issue of how data centers are impacting rural communities. In addition to an internal working group, we’re also launching the Rural Data Center Forum. Earlier this year, we hosted a couple of invite-only sessions to test the waters, and the positive response was so strong that we’re making it a public series. Please join us on Wednesday, March 11th, for a presentation from Ann Bennett, Data Center Issues Chair of the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter. |
| Ann has worked for many years on Capitol Hill on a range of environmental issues, including clean air, nuclear power, the National Estuary Program, and is especially proud to have been part of successful efforts to preserve public lands in Alaska and Virginia. She has held numerous positions in the non-profit sector, with a particular interest in leadership, governance, and strategic planning, and continues to serve on several non-profit boards. Currently, she chairs Sierra Club Virginia Chapter’s Data Center campaign and is Land Use Chair of the local Sierra Club Great Falls Group. During this call, Ann will speak about the impacts of data centers on air and water quality, energy rates, and other quality-of-life issues that arise in communities where data centers are sited. Additionally, we have made the recordings from the last two presentations in this series public. You can learn more about data centers from our past calls on YouTube: |
