Peter Mui displays his "Doctor Is In" sign before kicking off the Fixit Clinic.
With the recent buzz around the Netherlands' Repair Cafes, for this week's Shareable Friday video, we bring you an installment of the Fixit Clinic in Albany, California. With the call, "Start your screwdrivers!" Peter Mui, dressed in a lab coat, helps a team of kids and adults take on the challenge of fixing their broken household items. In the course of the video they repair a broken boombox, toy, Palm Pilot, steam mop, toaster, and a flashlight.
As Peter says, "There is this detachment that people seem to have from the stuff that they depend on in their lives...I'm trying to give people more of a sense of how their stuff works." The Fixit Clinic seems to reach young and old successfully, and by the end of the video people are dancing to tunes from the now-repaired boombox.
