The value of public spaces to boost physical and mental health as well as reduce stress has been well-documented. For example, public space restoration projects in three low and middle-income Portland neighborhoods resulted in statistically significant improvements in social capital and lower incidences of depression.

Open 2017: Platform Co-ops — By providing a viable alternative to the standard internet business model based on monopoly and extraction, platform cooperatives provide a template for a new type of organization — forming the building blocks for a new economy. Open 2017: Platform Co-ops, the first event of its kind in the U.K., will explore how collaborative software and cooperative ownership models are being combined to create this new economy.
