This Saturday marks the 9th year of International Coworking Day; an annual worldwide celebration of the first day ‘coworking’ was birthed and shared by Brad Neuberg in San Francisco, CA. Globally an estimated 500 coworking spaces will commemorate Neuberg’s vision as part of this event.
Back in 2005 as an independent worker in California Neuberg conceived of a different way of working; envisioning a place where independent workers could come together, collaborate and reap the rewards of community, increased productivity and creativity. What started as a one day a week experiment has exploded into an international phenomenon as coworking has quickly become mainstream.
For the last 2 years Citizen Space has turned what began as a one day event into a week long affair. Currently coworking meetups are scheduled in 36 different cities with San Francisco acting as a central hub with events scheduled every day leading up to a Coworking Day Unconference on Saturday (Sponsored by Shareable). So there are many ways (and spaces) to get involved.
