Sara Stout, a founding member of both Shift and the World Carfree Network, has been an advocate of social equity and sustainable mobility for over 20 years, melding community development, artistry and grassroots activism. She’s a founding member of a cross-section of Portland bicycling institutions, Citybikes, the co-op bike shop; Critical Mass, the visibility and advocacy movement; and the KBOO Bike Show, a monthly community radio show. She coordinated Portland’s Carfree Day celebrations in 2003 and 2004 and has facilitated an extensive variety of bicycle-oriented art projects.
