I'm originally from New Zealand, and started in film and video making music videos (a real love of mine) while paying the rent with soul-destroying television jobs.
Since moving to Berlin almost 3 years ago, I've left the sausage-factory production line of television and pursued my own interests.
I now work with a documentary group called Wrangelfilm. We're a bunch of young international filmmakers who have fallen together over a couple of years of collaboration, and we'll be working together throughout my Year of Open Source project. Our films are about such diverse subjects as the meaning of home here in Berlin, electoral corruption in Uganda, or the flow of traditional music in eastern Europe.
But the focus is on finding interesting characters along the way, And I'm sure to find plenty this year.
