Transition Town Media is working hard to create a sharing economy in Media, PA as part of our effort to transition our local community to a lower-impact, highly-resilient, more deeply connected way of life. Transition Town Media, the first Transition initiative in PA, started a Timebank in 2011, a FreeMarket day (think free Garage Sale) every September, a hyper-local swap and gifting page on FB (with 800 members and growing); a gift circle group, and maintains strong coordination with other gift and sharing based groups in our town (e.g.: a Food Gleaning group; the Food Pantry; the Clothing Pantry) Transition Town Media is in the planning stages of opening a yard/garden-share group, a collaborative business space, a fix-it exchange, and a tool library.
