When my wife Andrea and I planned our wedding, we had a couple social media -esque elements. We did a survey of everyone's favorite dance songs then rented a jukebox loaded with all our guests favorite songs for the reception. We also had folks take instant photos of themselves at the wedding. They posted these on a large "social tree" poster in a spot indicating how they come into our lives - work, school, nonprofits, etc. The juke didn't work out too well for dancing because of the lag between songs, so we reverted to a laptop with the same song collection. The social tree worked out great. It was a fun activity for people arriving at the reception plus they could see how others at the wedding fit in the group.
