In 2008, Shira Golding Evergreen and her partner headed upstate from New York City to Ithaca, New York, with the goal of living a more shareable life. Once there, they connected with the Freeskool and other community members who were steeped in various sharing-based practices. Within no time, they had founded a vibrant barter community called Share Tompkins, which has hosted 25 local sharing events in the last three years.
